Everybody Wants to Rule the World, So Why Can't Second Life?

Attention Second Life muckety-mucks: Please read Maria Korolov's great article on Hypergrid Business, "Rod Humble: Here's how Second Life can rule the world." The article, a direct plea to the newly crowned SL CEO, touches upon some of SL's shortcomings, and provides some solid suggestions on how to overcome them. (Read "Rod Humble: Here's how Second Life can rule the world").

Among her points, Korolov recommends providing immediacy when it comes to user immersion (user engagement should be instantaneous), which one can achieve by making SL more user-friendly. She also suggests bringing down prices to better incent users, and breaking down SL's walls and having it be part of the hypergrid to make it a sort of hub, "a central meeting place for the entire metaverse." And finally, she recommends sorting out SL's many bugs. No more non-rezzing clothing, lagging, etc. Streamline the experience so users can be engaged, not distracted from the experience.

I think these are some common sense strategies that may be helpful to Second Life in its quest to better itself. Tears for Fears may be right that everybody wants to rule the world, and Second Life should set aside the Richard II effeteness and get ready for conquest!
